Director/SEC

Job Overview:

The SEC Director will need to take ownership of a client company’s various public filings. This person must be effective at managing multiple engagements at the same time, team members, problem solving, and guiding the SEC filing process toward final filing.

This person will need to manage multiple workstreams including the SEC process, outside parties (e.g., auditors and SEC counsel), and also work closely with the Eventus team members assigned to the engagement. This role will report directly to a Managing Director of Eventus.

  • Communication – Excellent communication skills both verbal and written that are clear and concise and an ability to keep the Eventus team, as well as the client, informed of what is going on without overburdening people with detail
  • Leadership and Ownership – A propensity toward autonomy and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty as Eventus and the client depend on you to own all the deliverables and the project itself
  • Multiple Project Management – Must be able to manage all deadlines and deliverables
  • Problem Solving – Strong problem-solving skills identifying and resolving complex issues in an effective and time sensitive pace
  • Interpersonal Skills and Collaboration – Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record as a collaborative partner who drives for results
  • Detail orientation – Detail oriented with exceptional analytical, accounting and documentation skills

Essential Experience:

  • High degree of knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting rules
  • Working knowledge of Regulation S-K and S-X
  • Ability to draft, prepare and review Securities Act and Exchange Act filings
  • Ability to understand issuer’s business in order to conceptualize and draft non-financial portions of public filings
  • 3-5 years of audit experience with a Big 4/National Firm with greater than 50% of time spent on SEC reporting clients
  • Keen project management ability to adhere to strict deadlines with existing Eventus accounting staff to coordinate the various components of the SEC filing process.
  • A demonstrated history of success in developing process and achieving project/task deadlines
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Proven track record of working closely with all major functional leaders across the organizational landscape

Responsibilities Include:

  • Self-motivated and not need to be micro-managed in working with the Eventus team for a client’s public filings
  • Must be effective at managing multiple engagements at the same time
  • Need to be closely aligned with team and real-time with engagements in order to keep timing on track and be able to interface with team members and be a participant in any potential problem solving and guiding the SEC filing process toward final filing
  • Need to manage multiple workstreams including the SEC process, outside parties (e.g., auditors and SEC counsel), and the various Eventus team members assigned to the engagement
  • Research and draft memos on technical accounting issues for compliance

Education and Knowledge Requirements:

  • A demonstrated background in public filings as a former auditor or similar function
  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university
  • CPA in good standing
  • Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills, ability to learn new software quickly
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in SEC filings
  • Knowledge across multiple industries

Travel:

  • Need to be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
